Tuition Policy
Finance: Tuition Policy 2024-2025 Season
The Connecticut Jr Huskies are a registered 501(c)3 non-profit organization. As an association with non-profit status, each member is responsible for adhering to the Tuition Policy to ensure that all costs of the program are paid for. The Connecticut Jr Huskies reserve the right to suspend a skaters ability to participate if tuition payments are not up to date or a reasonable mutually agreed upon repayment schedule is put in place. The following Tuition Policy is in effect for the entire 2024-2025 season.
Tuition Overview
Tuition rates have been established by the club's President and Treasurer and presented for approval by the Board of Directors. Tuition fees ensure that the association maintains the ability to pay for the costs associated with operating the program, examples of which include but are not limited to:
- League fees, practice ice, skills clinics, coaching education, league playoffs, and administrative costs.
The Connecticut Jr Huskies Tuition Policy and team assignment process is outlined below. Tuition payments will be made in 6 installments starting in August and must be paid in full by January 1st unless otherwise noted. Arrangements can be made for a payment in full when the 1st installment payment is due August 1st of the upcoming season.
Registration for evaluations/Commitment and Placement
All skaters must complete an online registration and pay a non-refundable registration fee to the Connecticut JR Huskies before the first evaluation date for the following season. Skaters will not be allowed to participate in their age-level evaluation session if the registration is not completed.
After placement evaluations are complete, skaters may or may not be offered placement on a team via call/email from the Head Coach. At that time if the skater accepts placement on the team a $300 commitment fee must be paid and will later be applied to the skater’s full tuition. The commitment fee is meant to hold a position for the skater on the active roster. Non-payment of the commitment fee may jeopardize the player’s position on the roster.
Families with Multiple Players
Connecticut Jr Huskies offers a family discount for those families who register two or more children in a travel program only. (Limited Travel Toscano does not qualify) Discounts are applied to the player with the lowest tuition amount.
Alternate Skaters
Players must request an alternate placement in advance that will need to be approved by the Head Coach and CJH Board. Alternates will be dependent upon player skill level, age, and availability of space on the team.
The Connecticut Jr Huskies have two Alternate registrations. Regular Alternates may attend unlimited practices and up to 10 games. (Additional games may be played at the discretion of the Head Coach. A fee increase will be assessed based on the number of additional games played.) Game-only Alternates will pay a flat rate fee for each game they play within the season.
Initiation Programs
Initiation programs run throughout the year. Tuition for the Learn to Skate and Learn to Play Hockey are due at the time of registration. These programs are not eligible for any refunds.
Refund Policy for Travel and Toscano Limited Travel Programs
Once a player is offered a position on a team and accepts, the commitment fee secures placement for the player on that team for the following season. For that reason, we strongly encourage families to read and understand this policy before accepting placement for a team.
The registration payment made at the time of Evaluation is non-refundable. Once a player is offered a position and a commitment fee is paid to secure placement on the roster, you are liable for the full tuition costs.
During the season if your skater is diagnosed with an illness or injury that prohibits the player from participating in the sport of ice hockey you will not be liable for the remainder of your balance of the current hockey season. (A Medical Provider note will be required) There will be NO refunds issued for any payments made before illness or injury.
Declined, Late, Missed, or Returned Payments
Connecticut Jr Huskies incur fees when payments are declined, late, missed, or returned. If you have a question or concern about a charge made to your credit or debit card or bank account, please first contact the CJH Treasurer in writing to attempt to resolve the issue before initiating a dispute resolution with your financial institution. Fees will be charged to the player’s account as follows:
Returned checks $35
Declined, late, or missed payment: $35 regardless of payment tender (ACH Check/Credit/Debit card)
Tuition Assistance
Tuition assistance is available to Connecticut Jr Huskies applicants who are in need due to financial hardship. Tuition assistance is granted on an individual basis and is provided in two formats: alternative payment plan or partial tuition relief.
- Alternative Payment Plan: Applicants must submit in writing the need for an alternative payment plan to the Board President and Treasurer. A written agreement including an alternative payment schedule from the current fee schedule will be mutually agreed upon. The player will remain on the active roster if the payment plan is followed.
- Partial or Full Tuition Relief: CJH believes in making ice hockey accessible to those children who would like to play but require financial support. We are happy to be able to offer the Gage Rondeau Scholarship. Please see details of Scholarship under Parent Resources.
